Daryn was born, raised and educated in Jersey City, NJ. After moving from JC in 2001, he lived in Newark, NJ for 13 years before relocating to Union, NJ. Daryn has been married to his beautiful wife Tammy for 27 years, and their daughter Ebonie is 22, and their son Daryn is 18 years of age. Martin is a proud member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ under the leadership of his Pastor Rev. Dr. Alonzo Perry Sr.

He has served on several ministries at the church, and presently serves on the security task force, the male chorus, the men’s league, the Deacon board, and New Hope ETC (Educate the Child) Board of Directors. Brother Martin was named Speaker of the House by his Pastor. Daryn is the former President for NJ Acorn (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), and a current member of the NAACP in Jersey City.

Daryn is President of the Board of Trustees for Little One’s preschool, daycare, and summer camp in East Orange, NJ, Vice President for CTCO (Christa Tamiria Capers Organization) in Jersey City, NJ, and an Executive and Advisory Board member for PULSE (Parents Unified for Local School Education) in Newark, NJ. Mr. Martin is a member of APRI (A. Philip Randolph Institute), and Director of Community Relations for the group Concerned Citizens of Vauxhall and Vicinity Civic Association in Union and Vauxhall NJ.

Rodney is a former football and basketball coach in Union, NJ, and a former NFL flag football coach in Morristown, NJ. He is the former President of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) at Ivy Hill Elementary School in Newark, Nj where he was falsely and illegally arrested and banned from his children’s school for standing up and opposing a plan that was being forced on parents by a corrupt school superintendent and her cronies.

Martin filed a lawsuit against the school district, won his case with all charges dismissed, and earned his great name and reputation back. Brother D as he is affectionately known at work is the proud Secretary-Treasurer at District 1199), National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees, AFSCME/AFL-CIO for the past 23 years in Newark, NJ.

Mr. Martin is a member of the Township of Union Board of Health, an elected Union Township District Leader, a member of his local PTA, and a Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Union, Hudson, and Essex Counties. Daryn is the humble recipient of various educational, professional, and community awards which includes the prestigious John Lewis “Good Trouble” Award, the Men of Distinction Award, and countless Outstanding Community Service Awards.
He salutes and thanks his parents for raising him to be respectful, caring, and loving to everyone, and to always stand up for what’s right, even if he has to stand alone.
